Demise of the “dad bod”

Although we’re really not into media monikers like “daddy do-overs”, at KAZEM AESTHETICA, we are into helping men feel their very best – and for changing the conversation around male surgery.

With the arrival of summer comes the inevitable concern for those problem areas of our bodies that can turn a great day into a mildly depressing one, full of complaint and comparison. And of course it is this time of year when the media particularly likes to lead with headlines featuring terms such as “dad bod” and “beach ready”. For those combatting the middle age spread – typically characterised by extra fat or flabby skin around the chest and mid-section areas – there are options and treatments to achieve that slimmer and more toned physique. And KAZEM AESTHETICA can assist.

As ever, when beginning your journey with us, you will undergo an initial private consultation with Dr. Farid Kazem. During this time you will discuss your goals, analyse your lifestyle, cover your nutrition, and review your overall physical and mental wellbeing. Only then will Dr. Kazem review and present a fully bespoke plan which will likely include a range of treatments to ensure a cohesive result and leave you with a renewed body confidence.

What areas concern you?

Sometimes, the mid-section “muffin top” will not disappear with diet and exercise alone and we often hear complaints of a “soft torso” that stubbornly refuses to demonstrate the six pack abs you work so diligently for. In such cases, Dr. Kazem and his team may suggest an abdominoplasty. For some clients with excess skin and fat deposits above and below the naval, a fully tummy tuck may be called for; for just the lower abdomen, a ‘a mini tummy tuck’ may suffice. Alternatively, liposuction, a surgical procedure whereby small incisions are made in the specific area and a thin tube or cannula gently removes fatty tissue, may be suggested. This procedure can also be used on the thighs, hips and buttocks and upper arms. For others among you, the pectoral region may require attention via gynaecomastia surgery or male breast reduction to deal with excess breast tissue. These surgical procedures, although low-risk and with minimum discomfort, do require significant recovery time – and the impact on your work schedule and lifestyle plans will be a major point of discussion between you and Dr. Kazem when making this decision.

Non-invasive is the new norm

Dr. Farid Kazem has long been at the forefront of innovation, always seeking the latest treatments that combine advanced technologies with his experience as a surgeon. As such, he has been among the first to offer treatments such as CoolSculpting and EmSculpt.

The former harnesses non-invasive and proven technology to target, freeze, and permanently eliminate treated fat cells. After the treatment, apoptosis (the natural process of dying fat cells) begins – so, even though you can lose inches around the torso after just one session, the fat cells will continue to gradually leave your body over time, with your skin adjusting itself to your slimmer contours without sagging.

EmSculpt uses an applicator which simultaneously emits synchronised radio frequency (RF) and high intensity focused electromagnetic energy (HIFEM+) pulses which cause the muscle temperature to quickly rise by several degrees. In less than four minutes, the temperature in subcutaneous fat cells are permanently damaged and slowly removed from the body. Extreme ‘stress’ forces the muscle to adapt resulting in an increase in the number and growth of muscle fibres and cells – aka a more defined you.

Renewed confidence

We are enjoying longer and healthier lives, working hard on reaching our professional goals and, in some circumstances, holding off on having children until later. And this has contributed to a rise in interest surrounding male surgery, as more and more middle aged men seek treatments and procedures to look how they feel. Our aim at KAZEM AESTHETICA is to help you regain your confidence. We can help reduce and remodel those problem areas – but we’re scratching terms like “dad bod” from the vocabulary, because, Father, you look fantastic.
